FAQs

WHAT TEMPERATURE SHOULD I SET MY POOL HEATER TO?
Pool temperatures should be set to at least 87°F, with the ideal temperature for younger children at 90°F. The warmer the water, the more comfortable and relaxed your child will feel during lessons.

DO SWIM LESSONS GUARANTEE MY CHILD WILL NOT DROWN?
No, swim lessons do not make any child drown-proof. However, they greatly improve your child’s safety by teaching essential survival skills, increasing confidence, and enhancing body awareness in and around water.

WILL MY CHILD LEARN TO SWIM WITHIN A CERTAIN NUMBER OF LESSONS?
Every child progresses at their own pace, and we cannot guarantee skill mastery within a set number of lessons. Pushing too quickly can create or intensify fear. Our focus is on a supportive, individualized approach that builds skills in a positive and pressure-free environment.

WHAT GUIDELINES DO YOU FOLLOW FOR TEACHING AND EVALUATING SWIMMERS?
Our lessons and benchmarks follow the American Red Cross Water Safety and Instruction Standards, ensuring consistency, safety, and quality across all sessions.

WHAT AGE DO YOU TEACH?

  • Swim Lessons: 6 months to adult

  • Surfing & Ocean Safety: Ages 4 to adult

  • Junior Lifeguard Program: Ages 10–12 and 13–15

  • Water Aerobics: Ages 45 and up

We are always open to accommodating unique needs, so please don’t hesitate to reach out!

WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE A POOL AT MY HOUSE?
No problem! We have access to a pool in Hampton Bays. Please note that it is not heated, so a wetsuit is recommended for cooler days.

WHAT MONTHS DO YOU TEACH LESSONS?
Our primary season runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day, with additional availability into September and October, weather permitting.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours in advance, or you will be charged for the full session. We understand that issues like illness or pool heater malfunctions can occur. However, since our instructors are paid based on lessons completed, we ask that you respect their time and allow the opportunity to schedule another session in that time slot.

WEATHER POLICY
Lessons are not cancelled for rain. Unless there is thunder, lightning, or a heavy downpour, your scheduled lesson will still take place. If your child is sensitive to cold, we recommend wearing a wetsuit or rash guard for added comfort.

LIFEGUARD REQUIREMENTS

  • For pool parties, we require 1 lifeguard per 20 people in the pool area.

  • For open water/ocean lifeguarding, 2 lifeguards are required at all times due to the unpredictability of natural bodies of water.

SWIM DIAPER POLICY
Children who are not potty trained must wear a swim diaper during lessons or pool events.
